That's wrong

In that field, type "cmd", then type that in that area.
Old 3DS XL info:
I used to have a 3DSafe A9LH V11.3.0-36U with Luma in my CTRNAND. Since ReiNAND Reibooted and Re-Reileased, I "switch"ed back.
Right now, I have boot9strap with Luma 8.0 as my CFW. Though, I'd like to see other CFW's for B9S.

Yeah that worked.

I have no idea why the way I did it worked several times before though

So the thing about the backgrounds. Is it that any theme with a black background actually has no background at all? Is it that certain themes respond poorly to having their backgrounds changed in general? I remember someone saying they couldnt add a background to SMB Undeground or something.

you cannot add backgrounds to SMB underground unless you use ASM (code editing) or if you want to replace it with another theme's background with byaml editing.

Oh, so it's something unique to just that background. I thought it was a thing for a bunch of themes.

I've heard that you can do the ASM editing by modifying the .RPX file with IDA. Is this true? Or is there another way to hack the game's code?
You can't edit the code with IDA, you can see it disassembled in PPC assembly but it's not much use if you don't know what your doing.

It's for all the backgrounds that are black.

GRANIMATED, why did you abuse your mod power? If you want to reply, edit your post.

I honestly thought that you could edit the .rpx/.rpl files with IDA, since they both have .elf headers, but oh well.
Could you recommend a tool that can edit the files and view the disassembled code?

Just replacing the files in the game should do it.

I made a tutorial on how to extract the gfx somewhere on this forum. But it's terribly old.

You can use Wexos's toolbox in order to do that.

The tool section of your guide doesn't include yamlconv. You need it to change the game's physics.
